Studies on the proteins of termits castes of odontotermes obesus

Abstract

Studie. vere carried out on the nature of proteins in different castes (soldiers and workers) and !lymphs of tho termites Od~ntoter"8 obesus. The results indicate that nyr'.lpho have more total body proteins, t;ypes of proteins and number of amino acids a8 compared to the workers and soldiers_ Since worker and soldiers deyelop from the nywphs, a reduction in the number of proteins and _ino acids and change in nature of proteins takes place during caste difterentiation. Thus, both quantitatiye and qualitative changes occur in proteins during caste ditferentiation. The.e tindiDga demonstr te that proteins play an i.portant role in caste differentiation of O. oooaus.
