Abstract: | The present research is a lexical comparison of Punjabi and Classical Sanskrit. This study involves the investigation of the basic vocabulary to identify the cognates between Punjabi and Classical Sanskrit. After establishing the cognates, it seeks to analyze the historical development of the phonologies of the languages under study. The methodology is comparative-historical and qualitative in nature. The data under study is secondary. The phonological similarities and differences between the two languages are illustrated. |
