dc.description.abstractThis thesis explores the impact of international migration on the socioeconomic wellbeing of children left behind in families in the context of Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. The objective of this research is to study the socio-economic and demographic profiles of migrant families. And majorly, to investigate the major reasons behind international migration in Islamabad and the inflow of remittances to the family left behind. The present studies show that migration helps them to improve their socio-economic life and it also help to improve their living standards. Now the trend of migration is becoming popular because it helps to improve living standards, social status, health and other facilities. Phenomenon of international migration is not new in the context of Pakistani culture; people start migrating before the inception of Pakistan as a separate state. The purpose of this study was to find whether the parental migration bring positive changes in the wellbeing of their children’s life in Islamabad was selected for the present study. Purposive sampling was used to collect data from respondents of the migrants’ families. NELM (New Economics of Labor Migration) model was applied for more understanding about the international migration patterns. Our findings highlight the important role of international migration in child development and shows how migration plays role in their wellbeing. International migration helps them to improve their socio-economic life and help them to improve their living standards.en_US
