IMPACT OF INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION ON TRUANCY AMONG ADOLESCENTS "A CASE STUDY OF MIJRALA DISTRICT MANDl BAHA-UD-DIN"

Abstract

J.'VIigration is a phenomenon that has a l1Iulli-/acefed impact on individuals, families and left behind children. This study examines the impact of migration on Infal/cy among adolescents in Nfl/rala Dislriel Mandl Bahalid- Din Pakistan. Tntal1cy is a type of social problem among the students, when children leave for school or go (0 school but then slip off to meet with ji-iends Or do something Ihat may involve breaking l1tles (his called truancy. 1 coliecl the data from Murala that migration has negative impacts on schooling of left behind adolescents. According 10 theOJY and litera/w"e Ihe out-migration and flolV of the remittances had both posilive and negative impacts but mostly had negative impacts on education of the left behind adolescents. This study found that the left behind male adolescents were morc truants than girls because of migratmy a~piration. A significantly hilJher percentage of children whose fathers had migrated had more truants compared to those whose fathers were nol migrated.
