Abstract: The current study examines the use of alcohol by men and its effect on women in the two villages, Aishe and Buber of Di st rict Ghizer, GilgitĀ· Baltistan. The main objectives o f the study were to explore that how the lise of a lcohol by men has affected women in Aishe and Buber and a lso to examine whether there is any connection between the lise of alcohol by men on women's oppression and vulnerab ility. Qualitative research method coupled with exploratory research approach was lIsed. The case-study was used as research methodology for th is study and mUl tiple case studies were preferred. The research toots which were used to co llect data included indepth interviews, literature review and observations. The sample of the research constituted of30 affected women inc luding wives, daughters, sisters and mothers whose men used/abused alcohol but more specifically the cases of affected spouses of men were focused . I located these affected women by usi ng some of my contacts. The data of the study revea ls that the use of alcohol by men has not affected women as compared to the abuse of a lcohol because abuse of a lcohol is respons ible in in creas ing women's oppression and vulnerability in both the villages as women are facing the issue of femi nization of poverty, marital distress and domest ic vio lence by th eir male counterpmts.
