Abstract: Miano prospect area is surrounded by a number of gas fields with the Mari amongst them. At the time when OMV led joint Venture entered the block all fields produced from relatively shallow Tertiary reservoirs. Similar types of structural traps were also expected in Miano area. However, the interpretation of the seismic data acquired in the first campaign soon revealed that there were no structures at that level. For the interpretation of the seIsmIc datafive reflectors were marked based on stratigraphic studies. These reflector were initially name as Rl , Rz• R3• R4• Rsand R6 , but after correlation with the well tops and the well logs these were named as ranikot, Parh limestone, Upper Goru, Lower Goru and Sember formation Initially time section was prepared, which was converted to depth section to give true subsurface picture. It shows straight reflectors indicating the line is a strike line and lacking structures. Iso-velocity contour map was generated to show lateral and vertical velocity variations In velocity.Time and depth contour map of the reservoir rock. Three dimensional visualization of the prominent reflectors was done, which showed how formations are stratified in the subsurface. Using well data of Miano-05, Synthetic seismogram was generated and then correlated with the depth section, which further confirmed initial interpretation. In addition rock properties are also calculated using this data, special concentration was on the porosity of the rocks which further confirmed the reservoir potential of reservoir. The whole area is bounded by structural and stratigraphic traps. Complex tectonic history of the area has made it a good prospect area and accumulation of hydrocarbons is due to structural, lithological variation and pinching of strata. Khairpur High and Mari High are providing suitable environment to hydrocarbons. The sands of Lower Goru of Lower Cretaceous are acting as a reservoir in the area and are having an average thickness of - 650m. Miano prospect area has a great potential of hydrocarbons and more exploratory wells may be drilled in the future targeting the Lower Goru Sands.
