Abstract: | The study was designed to see the role oj traffic noise in causing aggression among shopkeepers. Hand Test Wagner (1983) was used as all instrument to measure aggression. The Hand Test has 19 major quantitative scoring categories including 4 combined categories and 15 sub-categories. A matching sample of 48 shopkeepers (24 shopkeepers from more noisy area 'and 24 shopkeepers from less noisy area) having same demographic characteristics of age, sex, marital status, education, trade, shopowner, social class, income, same display of goods on the shop, place af residence were selected from Rawalpindi. 24 shopkeepers were selected from mare noisy area i.e. ; Raja Bazar, Rgwalpindi and 24 shopkeepers from less noisy area i.e., residential colonies of Bakramandi, Rawalpindi. Hand Test was individually administered by researcher. The instructions were given to the subjects in Urdu. Each card was shown one by one. Responses were recorded verbatim along with reaction time. As subject was asked to give any number of responses that he could think of Scoring procedure was followed by manual (Wagner, 1983). Responses of test were scored on a scoring sheet, having 15 quantitative categories which relate to the type af activity perceived hy the individual. The results showed significant difference on Aggression scores hetween two groups. Significant differences on some other categories: Interpersonal (EXH. DEP) and Environmental (ACQ) were also observed. Whereas no significant diffetence on Interpersonal (AFF, COM, DIR), Environmental (ACT, PAS), Maladjustive (TEN. eRIP, FEAR), Withdrawal (DES, FAIL, BIZ) was found |
