Abstract: | Religious tourism, also known as spiritual tourism, is becoming more prevalent around the world. It is also referred to as the oldest type of tourism. Traveling to ancient holy sites did not need the same technical assistance today, but it did require the same human motivation and confidence. The "Islamic Republic of Pakistan" is a country for Muslims who coexists with other minorities. It has a favorable geographic location, a unique environment, ample aquatic resources, and significant social, historical, and cultural resources. Throughout the year, the residents participate in a variety of religious, cultural, and traditional events. People conquer all challenges in their path to enter holy sites with the most profound feeling for faith in their hearts; then it is mountains or hot deserts. Even today, religious tourism services and support remain insufficient to meet the needs of international religious tourists. More activities in this area will stimulate economic growth and citizens' livelihoods in tourist destinations while ensuring local communities' cultural and natural resources are preserved. The religious tourism industry in Pakistan and Gilgit-Baltistan is not yet fully established and to its full potential. Religious tourism will benefit small businesses and aid in the development of the local economy. The inhabitants will benefit from increased revenue and enjoy a higher quality of living. Hence, this research aims to determine the potential of religious tourism in the Hunza valley of the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. |
