Abstract: Plants are a great source of natural medication against numerous illnesses. Whenever it comes to cure any disease naturally without any sturdy side effects, medicinal plants are the first choice to look of. It is scientifically proven now that diseases like cancer, diabetes and tumor related malignancies are being treated with therapeutic plants. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pharmacological properties of T stocksianum, an indigenous medicinal plant found in Pakistan's northwestern region. Antioxidant properties of this plant extract were examined along with anti-inflammatory characteristics. Whole plant of T. Stocksianum was extracted with methanol to gain crude extract TSM. This master extract was then fractionated with solvents viz; hexane (TSH), chloroform (TSC), ethyl acetate (TSE), butanol (TSB), and the aqueous fraction (TSA) in ascending order of polarity. Qualitative examination of samples revealed the presence of essential phytochemicals like flavonoids, coumarins, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, quinones, glycosides any many others followed by the in-vitro antioxidant assays which demonstrated the TSM fraction is an excellent source of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. TSB and TSA fractions showed high antioxidant capacities followed by remaining extracts. The effects of CCL4 induced nephrotoxicity was evaluated by serum analysis with elevated levels of serum biomarkers viz; creatinine, urea and albumin. Tissue analysis was carried out with different in vivo assays which were Catalase assay (CAT), peroxidase assay (POD), superoxide dismutase assay (SOD), reduced glutathione assay (GSH), guesstimate of lipid peroxidation (TBARS), hydrogen peroxide assay (H2O2) and nitrite assay. After examination TSM was found as rich source of antioxidant agent by showing nephroprotective properties against chronic and acute kidney diseases. These data strongly suggest that T. stocksianum might be a promising anti oxidant treatment option.
