Abstract: Praise and gratitude to Allah Almighty, the one and only form-giver and form-evolver, for his infinite grace. Allah is the most Compassionate, Self-sufficient, Authoritative, Responsive, and All-powerful of deities, and He is constantly bestowing His countless benefits on His creatures. A profound sense of gratitude and reverence for his Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SA W), who has been and will continue to be an inexhaustible well of wisdom and guidance for the mankind. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to my honorable supervisor Prof. Dr. Muhammad ArifNadeem, Department of Chemistry, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, for his knowledgeable recommendations, consistent guidance, and constant encouragement throughout the course of my research work. His boundless energy, encouragement, inspiration, cooperation, and unwavering optimism make me possible to accomplish this dissertation. I will never be able to express my gratitude adequately. In addition, I express my sincere gratitude to Prof. Dr. Zareen Akhtar, Head of Inorganic/Analytical section, and Prof. Dr. Aamer Saeed Bhatti, Chairman Department of Chemistry, for providing necessary facilities to undertake my research work. I'm deeply indebted to Prof. Dr. Hong Yang (University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, US), for supervising me. I want to pay wholehearted thanks to him for providing me kind guidance and generous help during my stay at Illinois. I would like to thank Higher Education Commission Pakistan for granting me both Indigenous and IRSIP scholarships to carry out my research. I expand my thanks to all the staff in our university for their assistance and kindness. My sincere appreciation goes to all my lab fellows who have supported me greatly and have always been willing to help me. Eventually, I deeply thank my family: specially my Parents for the prayers and for being proud of me. I cannot thank enough my siblings Ali Haider, Amtul Hadia, Gul-e-Nayab, and Mahgul for the way their loyalty, affection, and faith in me have lightened my weight.
