Abstract: This research investigates the numerous socio-cultural factors behind domestic violence against women. It describes the comprehension and perception of local people about domestic violence. Several reasons of violence and its impacts on women are also mentioned in detail. It also aims to explore different forms of domestic violence in research locale. The area of the investigation is the Village of Saidpur in Islamabad. To explore the opinion of partners regarding domestic violence, qualitative research methodology including participant observation, purposive sampling, in-depth interviews and focus group discussion have been employed. The analysis of this work demonstrates that women confront a direct, social and structure based violence in their private life by their partners. The women of locale experienced physical, psychological and verbal violence. The socio cultural and economic components such as illiteracy, unemployment, male dominance and interference of relatives playa considerable role in violence against married women. The domestic violence have adverse effects on the health, social position and well-being of women.
