Online Resource Management System

Abstract

Online Resource Management System is the software that will be used to share resources on Internet. There is an Administrator who will manage the overall system. The administrator will create groups and members. Each group contains members. And each member can hold the membership of more than one group. Each group will have their own resources. Member can download resources from server to his machine and also he can upload to the server from his machine. Resource access is synclu·onized. If a member downloads resource then no other member can access the resource till he up loads to the server. As this project seems to be simple. But this is not the case. ActiveX controls developed in VC++, rather to use built-in controls. These controls are light weighted and are downloaded on clients machine relatively faster. When a member uploads a file to the server a generic mail will be send to his fellow members to inform them that now the resource is available. Socket programming is used to communicate between Server and clients. Resource information is stored in database. Server interface provides GUI, which will enable to nm and stop the server.
