Abstract

The man library of Quaid-i-Azam University is managed manuall y. A librarian having more than sufficient (25) staff members is in charge of the library. All the students and employees of the university can use the library. Students are supposed to get the membership of the library by having the identification slip from the chaimlan of their respective departments. Then they are given a library membership number. To find a book the member looks at the shelves and also through the catalogs which waists a lot of time. Then he/she goes to the issue counter for issuance of the book there too some of the valuable time is wasted and almost equal time is consumed in clerical check up for the return of the issued book. At time it becomes very unpleasing and cumbersome as there is usually rush of students on issue counter.
