dc.description.abstract | Depression is a complex and pervasive mental health condition characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a loss of interest in once-enjoyed activities. It can significantly impact a person's emotional well-being and daily functioning, highlighting the importance of early recognition and appropriate support. Objectives: To assess the effect of depression on academic performance of the adolescents in Rawalpindi. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was carried out in the Rawalpindi. Total of 361 students were selected through non probability convenience sampling for the purpose of the study. Data was collected through an adapted self-administered questionnaire to assess the depression and its effect on academic performance of adolescents. Data was analyzed by SPSS software version 26.0 Chi-square test of Independence was applied to check the association of depression with academic performance Result: There was a significant association of depression with academic performance (p value=0.02).
