Abstract: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) pose a significant global health challenge, particularly among sedentary occupational groups such as IT and Telecommunication professionals. Previous research has highlighted the elevated risk of NCDs in professional sectors due to prolonged sitting, high stress levels, and inadequate physical activity. However, there remains a gap in understanding the specific prevalence, risk factors, and coping strategies within this demographic, particularly in the context of Islamabad, Pakistan. This mixed-methods study adopts a cross-sectional observational design to investigate NCDs among 384 IT and Telecommunication professionals in Islamabad. Quantitative surveys reveal a diverse sample, with eye diseases, cardiovascular issues, and mental health disorders emerging as prevalent conditions. Thematic analysis from qualitative interviews identified multifaceted risk factors such as lifestyle choices, occupational stressors, and environmental influences, alongside coping strategies including dietary adjustments, physical activity enhancements, and stress management techniques. Coping strategies encompassed dietary adjustments, physical activity enhancements, stress management techniques, and robust social support networks. The findings of this study underscore the urgent need for customized health promotion interventions, workplace policies promoting work-life balance and physical activity, and community-based programs integrating peer support mechanisms. Collaborative efforts among stakeholders are crucial for implementing evidence-based interventions and policies, both locally and globally, to address the growing IV challenge of NCDs in sedentary work environments and elevate the quality of life for professionals in these sectors.
