Abstract: The present research aimed to observe and define the attitudinal and behavioral aspects of diabetes patients. The research was conducted in specific areas of Kot Sultan located in District Layyah in South Punjab. The study explores the perceptions of diabetic patients about the disease and also provides views of the doctors dealing with diabetic patients in the area. The research highlights the local perception about diabetes and its treatment, diabetes and its impact on quality of life, attitude of diabetic patients towards treatment, and knowledge, attitude and practices among diabetic patients Further it explores the relationship between perception and treatment practices of diabetes. The participants for this study were mainly the diabetes patients. Further, traditional healers, local Peers (peer is a spiritual guide According to people he is a sacred man his direct link with God, he is a role model for all followers, he is the reason to create his own social networking system in the new religious dimension as well as social.People considered he is a Holy man) and professional doctors were also interviewed to explore the connotation related to the topic. For this research, different anthropological tools and methods were used to obtain and analyze the data. A written data collection instrument containing 50 questions was used to gather data from diabetic patients. The findings of the study showed that the participants were knowledgeable about diabetes and had different perceptions, practices and beliefs about the treatment. In addition, the findings indicated that most of the patients had suffered from the changes in their behaviors after suffering from the disease. The study can be helpful for the future researcher and for removing of negative beliefs, it can give awareness to diabetes patients. It is significant to maintain that diagnosis of the disease requires a more systematic change in consultation and referral system.
