Abstract: | Workplace incivility is one of the most trending aggressive organizational behaviour prevailing in workplace participants and demanding an urgent solution as organizational performance is getting deteriorated due to the same cause. Organizational socialization can help a new entrant to understand the ethics of workplace along with transformational leadership that can make employees learn about the standards of conduct. Both organizational socialization and transformational leadership can induce many positive organizational attributes including job satisfaction that can also mitigate the aggressive practices like incivility. So this study is aimed to check the impact of organizational socialization and transformational leadership on workplace incivility along with the mediating role of job satisfaction. This study has investigated its propositions in manufacturing sector of Pakistan by picking 324 respondents from textile, home appliances and surgical instruments industries through convenient sampling technique as such manufacturing sectors are more prone to incivility practices. Data has been collected from these employees through questionnaire-based survey whose responses were then tested by applying various statistical tests like reliability statistics, Pearson correlation, t-test, f-test, structured equation modeling and model fitness. The results have proved that transformational leadership and organizational socialization can reduce workplace incivility. Furthermore, job satisfaction also significantly mediated the relationship between organizational socialization and workplace incivility but did not show any significant effect in relationship between transformational leadership and workplace incivility. This study is significant to help leaders of almost all industries to cure workplace incivility and to enrich the literature with an in-depth insight about incivility behaviours and its cure. Implications, limitations and future research indications are also the part of this research. |
