Abstract: | This study aims to describe the process of re-migration and repatriation at the Camp of Mera Kechouri, situated in Peshawar district of the province Khyber Pakhtounkhwa. It also documents some reasons of political influence of the Malik. The study reviews how locals interpret the history of the migration, what reasons they have about the repatriation, and how far the incentives from UNHCR were influential in their repatriation? The researcher used ethnographic methods of data collection. Lack of facilities and opportunities across the border including economic, education, health, security and employment; were major reasons of remigration to Pakistan. Hegemony of the Malik in the politics and economic sectors means containment of resources, resulting lack of opportunities for others. Thus disparity is overt and poverty is very visible and is the major reason for the attachment of the people to the camp. |
