dc.description.abstractThe invasion of Afghanistan was a nine-year proxy war during the Cold War era involving the Soviet Union, supporting the Marxist-Leninist government of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan that proved to be a milestone of terrorism generally in Pakistan and specifically in Swat. The mujahedeen received unofficial military and financial support from the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Israel, Indonesia and China while the Afghan government received military and financial support from the India under Indira Gandhi.en_US
